Working with families entering the recovery process presents unique challenges that are often unidentified or misattributed to the identified client. Through the examining perspectives of attachment theory, trauma-informed care, and psychosocial rehabilitation, this presentation will provide participants with a framework to successfully engage the entire family system in the recovery process. By integrating these critical perspectives into the Family-Informed Trauma Treatment Model, Mr. De Carlo will provide practical tools and techniques that participants can engage immediately. Discussion will include topic areas of assessment, intervention, family mapping, treatment planning, communication and conflict resolution. This presentation will be useful for clinicians, interventionists and providers working with families in addiction recovery.
